Join the sock revolution! TOMS CEO recommends hack to prevent a cardinal fashion sin

Magnus Wedhammar, CEO at TOMS, talks about his first big spend for his wardrobe and how a cool pair of sunglasses is a must for the weekend:

My style
I would describe my style as smart, sophisticated, casual, and effortless. I tend to gravitate toward basic tees paired with comfortable sneakers. Over the past few years, my style has become a bit more focused on comfort post quarantine; and I have a deeper appreciation toward classic, easy looks.

Wardrobe must haves
I think that every man should own a pair of go to sneakers, a favourite pair of jeans, a basic tee, a versatile buttoned shirt, and an unstructured jacket that can be dressed up or down. A great pair of shoes is the most important wardrobe item for the modern day man. Shoes tie your outfit at any time, from day to night.

Over the weekend, I lean heavier on my sporty side by wearing contemporary joggers and anchoring them with a cool pair of sunglasses.

Brand value
I really love Double RL (Ralph Lauren). The brand speaks to me, since it has such an iconic, rugged, but timeless sensibility. The first branded item I bought was a pair of low top Jack Purcells as a teenager. This pair signed a pivotal event in the history of performance footwear, and I still feel nostalgic and excited thinking about them to this day.

Jean pool
I splurge on denim and denim jackets because it’s a classic material that never goes out of style. Denim is a transitional piece and you can never go wrong with one that’s high quality in a classic cut. I have quite a few pairs to match with any occasion.

little things
Sunglasses are an essential accessory that every man should have. Not only do they protect your eyes, they are a way to showcase your unique personal style.

Best foot forward
Every man should own everyday sneakers, a

pair of boots, and structured dress shoes. My current go-to are a pair of slip ons. I love how they are comfortable, easy to slip on, and compliment most occasions.

If the shoe fits
Socks have entered the global fashion arena seamlessly going with any pre or post pandemic style. A typical mistake that I notice people make is purchasing a pair that is too tight. To prevent this from happening, keep in account the width and length of your feet in comparison to the mold of the shoe, as well as if you decide to join the sock revolution!

style advice
Feeling confident in what you wear is important! Whether you’re at work, out for errands, or at a nice dinner with family, feeling true to yourself in a confident and comfortable way makes all the difference. The saying is better said, “ when you feel good, you look good!” I’m inspired by John Varvatos’ cool style. I respect the way he always looks stylish, casual, and elegant at the same time!

Online vs offline
In these days of online shopping, I still find it hard to buy any formal attire on the web. There are so many details to consider when purchasing a well fitted suit, like collar sizing, shoulder hang, sleeve and pant length etc, that I think it’s best to try on in person. You’ll likely need to get them altered anyways.
