Low-key Diwali celebrations are definitely not the norm for Bollywood. Lucky for us, the festival also makes for the most opportune time of the year to find inspiration for occasion wear. And this year was no different. From shararas and saris to lehengas and kurtas, the film industry’s biggest stars stepped out in a slew of must-see Indian ethnic ensembles. Among the best dressed celebrities was Anushka Sharma. On Saturday night, October 27, 2019, the 31-year-old actor, along with husband Virat Kohli, was seen at Anil Kapoor’s Diwali bash at his Mumbai residence, dressed in a multi-hued Sabyasachi lehenga. Take a closer look at her outfit below.
Anushka Sharma’s Sabyasachi lehenga celebrated bold colours and beautiful craftsmanship
There’s no denying Anushka Sharma favours Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s creations. She picked a blush lehenga by the designer for her wedding, and more recently, she picked a red Sabyasachi sari for Karva Chauth. On Saturday, the star picked a multicoloured lehenga from the couturier’s winter/ bridal 2019 collection ‘Charbagh’. The piece, which falls under the Chowk category in the collection, is perfect for brides who enjoy experimenting with their look. Borrowing colours and craftsmanship techniques from his older collections, Mukherjee’s lehenga came with a deep V-neck black blouse that was enhanced with delicate floral threadwork. Meanwhile, the lehenga skirt featured several colour-blocked panels in vibrant shades of orange, purple and even ice blue. Each panel was punctuated with dome-like architectural structures in contrasting shades.
Anushka Sharma paired her lehenga with statement jewellery
Lending Anushka Sharma’s outfit its finishing touch was matching jewellery by Sabyasachi Jewelry. Her choice: an all-eyes-on-me choker and earrings set worn with stacked bangles—all encrusted with coloured gemstones. The actor’s hair was pulled up in a ponytail, and her makeup look included smoky eyes, nude lips and a dewy base. Virat Kohli complemented Sharma in a white Nehru jacket and kurta by Sabyasachi.
Brides who like bohemian, vintage-style outfits can take a leaf out of Anushka Sharma’s book and invest in a multi-hued lehenga for their sangeet. As you plan your look, don’t forget to get a pair of juttis to complete your traditional ensemble. Wondering where to shop for a similar number? Go through our edit below to shop.
